1.) Educational and Welfare Needs:
  • Salary for 1 language teacher
  • Salary for 1 cook
Tashi Choeling currently has twenty new monks. Despite the fact that they are school-aged, most of these young boys had never received any formal education until they joined Tashi Choeling Monastery in 2007. Upon admission into TCM they began learning Tibetan reading and writing, between the traditional prayer sessions, in their daily routine. However, as these lessons have not been very regular or formal, they aren’t as effective as one would hope.

Regular classes for both the Tibetan language and English are necessary for the students. They will need to be able to read and write in these languages to meet modern needs and challenges and for their traditional studies of prayer recitation and other religious practices. To satisfy this need, TCM is in urgent need of a financial grant of Rs. 5.000 (90 €) per month to pay the salary of one regular language teacher and Rs. 4000 (75 €) for one cook.
