3.) Maintenance Cost:
The monastery requests all individual sponsors and donor agencies to support one or more child for the initial few years of their study at TCM, Dharamsala. The cost of maintenance is roughly budgeted at 25 – 30 € per monk per month. TCM has no regular source of income to pay for cost of maintaining all the monks. As of now, the monks are living off of the donations for maintenance of three monks, general donations to the monastery and offerings. The quality of living is quite poor due to this lamentable lack of funds. TCM kindly requests donations of any type, whether it be a sponsorship, or a general donation, to cover the expenses of these young monks.
Most of these young monks are starting to learn the English alphabet, numbers and drawing in their leisure time. While they are still not able to write well in either Tibetan or English, they can read some Tibetan scriptures. As they learn and improve their language and writing skills, we hope they will one day be able to write letters to their individual sponsors. Your financial support will bring a great and much-needed improvement to the lives of these young monks as well as help save the religious and cultural heritage of Tibet, our country in exile.
